Instagram Yips and tricks #1: Know the Previous Username
Few people like to change their username frequently and this leaves you confused as to who the person is. So if you want to know their previous username then all you need to do is to go to their profile, click on the three dots at the upper right corner, click on ‘about this account’, and then to ‘former user name’, and that’s it. Though this only works for popular accounts, it is still a great trick. You can also see at what date they joined Instagram, where they’re from, and more.
Instagram tips and tricks #2: Share stories only with close friends
Do you have people on Instagram with whom you don’t wanna share things? Don’t worry, Instagram got you covered. While posting on the Instagram story you can hide it from people you don’t want seeing it. You can permanently hide your stories from them by following these simple steps:
- On your profile, tap the three lines icon on the top right.
- Tap on settings on button right.
- Click on Privacy and security, then story controls.
Now select the people you want to hide the story from in the Hide story from option. You can also do this and skip all three steps by pressing the settings icon while posting.

If you have more than two accounts on Instagram and you switch between them frequently then this trick will be really helpful for you. All you need to do is to double-tap on your image on the bottom right corner and you’ll directly switch to the other account.

Ever wanted someone to stop following you but don’t want to block them?
Now you can do that on Instagram by simply tapping on to your follower’s list and click ‘remove’ to remove them from your follower
- Go to the profile page
- Tap on followers
- Tap on the ‘remove’ button in front of the name of the follower you want to stop following you.
Now they are no longer following you and they aren’t blocked as well.

Did you ever message someone on Instagram by mistake and wish to take the message back? Well, you can now unsend a DM or multiple messages on Instagram. It doesn’t matter if the recipient has read the message or not, you can unsend it either way. The message will be deleted permanently from your and the recipient’s conversation. To unsend follow these steps-
- Go to your DMs by clicking on the message icon which is at the top right corner of the app.
- Tap on the message.
- Long tap the message you want to unsend.
- Tap on ‘Unsend’ shown at the bottom of the screen.

You guys already know that on YouTube you can easily pin comments on the top. But did you know that you can do it easily on Instagram as well? To do so all you need to do is to swipe left on the comment that you want to pin and click on the ‘pin icon‘ then click on ‘pin comment’ and that’s it. You can pin up to three comments to show them on the top.

Instagram has a feature where you can share a picture or video posted by another user with your followers. You can simply click on the share button which is below the picture or video you want to share and then post it on your story. You can also send these posts to your followers privately.

Instagram also lets you use filters for your selfie and post them on your story. There are hundreds of filters like dog ears, makeup, sunglasses, tan, and other special effects to add to your selfies. To do that, tap the face filters icon in the Instagram camera the icon looks like a face with sparkle around you. Once you do that you’ll find tons of face filters available, tap on the camera button to capture a selfie with a filter. You can share this picture either on your story or save it to upload it somewhere else.

If you have someone who goes live every single day, which can be very annoying, then you can switch off those notifications. To do so all you need to do is go to the three lines on the top right corner of your profile, tap on Settings, and then to notifications and that’s how you can turn off the notifications for live videos and IGTVs.
