Technology is increasing day by day. In past years technology has brought a massive change and created a new world called the Virtual world. The virtual world has now become an essential part of our lives. We all are now aware of online meetings, webinars, online classes, exams, and many more. But, do you know what Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality is?
Here we’ll get to know about Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

What Augmented reality is?
Augmented reality is an interactive experience with the real-world and 3D Digital world. Augmented Reality or mixed reality, has enhanced our virtual world, by adding computer-generated perceptual information to it.
Some hardware components used in this technology are processors, displays, sensors, and input devices. Modern mobile computing devices are smartphones and tablets. These devices are suitable Augmented Reality platforms. As they consist of cameras and sensors like GPS.
Uses of Augmented Reality
Now that we know what Augmented reality is, let us see some uses of it as well.
1. Education
Augmented Reality can bring a massive change in education. Explaining something with visuals and graphics makes them more clear and interesting. Learning from the book can only allow you to see a picture. But Augmented Reality allows the user to explore more things.
2. Remote collaborating/ Training
In Remote collaborating or training you can easily provide training to anybody sitting miles away from you. You can easily guide someone using Augmented reality.
3. Gaming
This technology is commonly used in gaming. It provides the integration of game visual and audio content with the user’s environment in real-time. Users can interact with the digital world and real-world elements. Pokémon GO, Ingress, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, etc., are some examples of Augmented reality.
What is Virtual Reality?
Virtual reality gives its user a real-time experience. What we see in Virtual Reality are computer-generated graphics that appear to be real. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed. And they are able to interact with 3D worlds. By simulating as many senses as possible, such as vision, hearing, touch, etc.
In this technology, a Head-Mounted Display that is worn on the head is needed. It reflects projected images and allows a user to see through them. There are 3 primary categories of Virtual reality; non-immersive, semi-immersive, and fully immersive simulations.
Uses of Virtual Reality
Now that we know what Virtual reality is, let us see some uses of it as well.
1. Industrial Training
This technology is helpful where there is a practical application. As you can experience it, without actually doing it. In many industries, workers are provided training by using Virtual Reality. As it causes no harm and destruction in the real world.
2. Recruitment and Training
At the time of recruitment and training, companies create scenarios that look like a real view. Then, they engage their employees in real work challenges. This provides physical involvement to the employees. It is equivalent to the satisfaction gained from real training. Also, recruiters are now able to find more efficient employees for their company.
3. Training Medical Students
Virtual reality is used to provide training to medical students. It helps students to learn and acquire work experience faster. By using Virtual Reality, students can learn to perform, hard and delicate surgeries.
Difference between Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality
Augmented Reality simulates artificial objects in the real environment. Whereas, Virtual Reality changes the real world into an artificial world.
In Augmented Reality, the computer uses sensors and algorithms. They help in the positioning and orientation of a camera. AR technology then renders the 3D graphics as they would appear from the viewpoint of the camera. And superimpose the computer-generated images over a user’s view of the real world.
In Virtual Reality, the computer uses similar sensors and math. If the user’s head turns, the graphics react accordingly. Rather than compositing virtual objects and a real scene, Virtual Reality technology creates a convincing and interactive world for the users.
In Augmented Reality, users always have a sense of presence in the real world. Whereas in Virtual Reality, visual senses are under the control of the system.
Why to learn AR and VR?
The scope is getting larger. Companies are always in search of creative marketing ideas. And using AR and VR is one of the best ways to attract customers. Therefore, there are many job opportunities in this field. Many companies are now adopting this technology. And in the future, there’ll be a huge demand for AR VR developers.
