WhatsApp banned over 16.6 lakh accounts in India in April 2022. Those accounts were considered bad accounts. This is done in compliance with the new IT rules 2021.
This action was taken on the basis of user complaints and in accordance with WhatsApp’s own preventive actions. It is just to keep the platform safer from abuses and to protect the app from harmful activities. WhatsApp banned 1.6 Million users from April 1-30, said the WhatsApp spokesperson.
In other reports, WhatsApp also said, “We are particularly focused on prevention because we believe it is much better to stop harmful activity from happening in the first place than to detect it after harm has occurred,”
WhatsApp also shared the data related to the banned accounts in India in the month of April. This is done by using the abuse detection approach. And also by gathering the user’s negative feedback or reports WhatsApp banned these accounts.
