After PhonePe, Paytm has also started charging fees from customers on mobile recharge. According to reports, the company is now charging Rs.1-6 from users based on the amount of recharge. Also, the charges are only applicable at the online recharge of more than Rs.100. Online recharges via UPI, credit card and debit card by using the app can be done by paying a convenience fee.

However the fee was first applicable in March and only charged from a group of users. Also, company stated that they will not charge any fee for digital payments or transactions. “Paytm neither charges nor will charge any convenience or transaction fee from customers on using any payment method which includes Cards, UPI and Wallet,” said the company.

In October, PhonePe announced its convenience fee on recharge above Rs.50. Paytm is the second digital transaction platform charging fees on mobile recharge. When PhonePe started charging fee, then many users switch a different app.

Other than PhonePe and Paytm, consumers can use the alternatives. Google Pay, Freecharge, Amazon Pay, and MobiKwik are few trusted apps. While many individual bank apps are also offering recharge and transaction, so consumers can also opt for that.
